February of 2003….one year later and I’ve never been so out of shape. I’m exactly where I want to be.
When you’ve climbed a 22 year mountain you might as well enjoy the view. I’ve had essentially a year-long vacation, with just a little business mixed in. My lazy days are numbered though.
WAUSAU INSURANCE IS SUPPORTING MY QUEST FOR ITALIAN GOLD IN 2006!!!
THANKS TO WAUSAU I WILL BE BACK IN TRAINING FULL-TIME AS OF THIS MAY!
If you are reading this update and you’re looking forward to watching me chase more Gold, please thank Wausau. They are making it possible. Calgary will be my ‘home
away from home’ once again so I can train with the Canadian Sprinters for three more years.
A week ago, Wausau and I announced that they will be my Gold Level Sponsor for the next four years. The announcement came on opening day of the Badger State Winter Games. Wausau is a sponsor of the Games, and I once competed in them so the timing was perfect. So, too, is our partnership. Wisconsin based yet world class. Prior to signing an agreement with them I read about their company…both past and present. Their nearly 100 year old history is a great story. A company proud of it’s Wisconsin heritage, as am I. A company that represents “good Midwestern values”, as I try to do. And a company that has a great outlook. They’ve given me a great new outlook, too. I’m so excited to embrace the new goals and challenges that I’ll face between now and February of 2006!
Switching gears, Jennifer and I (and our pup Kea) continue to enjoy our time home in Madison, Wisconsin.
Kea is looking more and more like a bird dog every week. Jennifer switched to a third grade class in Verona, from her previous third grade in Oregon. She has taken only semester-long jobs so we could be flexible with when we headed back up to Calgary (at one point we thought we might go back up this past January)….bless her heart! We thoroughly enjoyed our first normal, relaxed Christmas together and are looking forward to Valentine’s Day!
I’ll have more updates coming. In the meantime, I’ve got to get to the gym!
Casey
Ps. Thanks for all the guest book entries over the past year! And, thanks for your support!
